ROAD TRIP!

Sarah will be touring the country this Spring as Mabel and Yum-Yum in NYGASP's The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado! Appearances include a Southern tour of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, as well as shows in Canada and Washington State. Then, Sarah is headed out West to test her trills in Colorado, Oregon and California. For a complete list of show dates, see the Schedule section!

NYGASP returns to City Center

Sarah was honored to perform the role of Yum-Yum (The Mikado) at the beautifully restored NY City Center. As part of G&S Fest 2013, she also appeared in HMS Pinafore and The Yeomen of the Guard.

"As the young lovers, Yum-Yum and Nanki-Poo, soprano Sarah Caldwell Smith and tenor Daniel Greenwood make lovely music from their solos, “A Wandering Minstrel” (Greenwood) and “The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze” (Smith) to their duets and trios." -TheaterScene.net

The Sorcerer puts a love spell on critics

NYGASP recently revived this quaint tale of Victorian villagers at the beautiful Gerald W. Lynch Theater. As Constance, the angst-ridden, lovesick teenager, Sarah won praise from The New York Times for her "admirable" work. Read the whole article here.

HOT off the presses!

Despite temperatures well over 100 degrees and a menacing Derecho storm, Sarah delivered a powerhouse performance as Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance) in her principal debut at Wolf Trap! Read what the critics had to say:

"Sarah Caldwell Smith’s voice was the most enjoyable part of the performance. Every high note was perfection, and her comedic trills had the audience laughing uncontrollably." - DC Metro Theater Arts

"Mabel, is played beautifully by Sarah Caldwell Smith...her exquisite voice stimulates us almost as much as it does poor Frederic... we joyfully surrendered to its charm and abandoned any need for words in her flute-song." - MD Theatre Guide

Here's a pretty How-De-Do!

Sarah donned her kimono once more as Yum Yum in Opera Columbus' The Mikado. Of her performance, The Columbus Dispatch said, "Sarah Caldwell Smith is a lovely Yum-Yum. Her pretty rendition of The
Sun, Whose Rays are All Ablaze
near the beginning of Act 2 was the musical highlight of the show."
